Cox Communication Data Center Picture

In 2001, Cox Communications made the decision to develop their own High Speed Internet Services Network. Cox decided to build their own regional data centers and connections between the centers and the Internet. The network itself includes three main Service Data Centers, located in Atlanta, Oklahoma City, and San Diego. These Service Data Centers (SDC) house Cox’s servers where customers’ email, news and web pages will be stored, and support 11 Regional Data Centers located throughout the country. The Regional Data Centers (RDC) provide diverse routing to the public Internet. The new system is based on the most advanced technology and is supported by Cox technicians and service representatives who monitor all aspects of the service and quickly resolve any technical issues. Cox had to acquire and install equipment to store and retrieve information and routers to direct packets of data around the Internet.

The Amend Group's Project Management team was brought in to implement design upgrades of the electrical infrastructure at the Oklahoma City SDC/RDC to accommodate equipment for the new business services. Our Project Management team worked closely with the Cox Oklahoma City team to complete the electrical and mechanical infrastructure and meet the required deadline in advance of equipment installation.
