The Amend Group provided project management, decision management, MEP consulting, construction management, interior design, and limited technologies services for MCIs high-tech network information center (NIC) in Richardson, Texas. Designed for maximum flexibility and flow-through, the NIC measures 108,000 square feet and sits on 12 acres. All of the floors in the technology areas of the NIC are raised. The NIC contains state-of-the-art telecommunications and Internet technology, as well as tremendous power and HVAC redundancy to accommodate mission-critical functions. The site operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and has security/site-controlled entry access. The single-story NIC construction type is made up of cast-in-place concrete with tilt wall/pre-cast wall panels.
The interior office construction is based on an open plan. Herman Miller Etho Space Systems furniture was used for the open areas as well as the private, hard wall offices of managers and supervisors. The buildings have café / break areas that provide hot food, and a large fitness center for employees. Connector bridges link each building pod. Surface parking is provided for all employees and visitors to the site.
