The Amend Group has a long history of promoting social awareness in the communities we serve. The company recognizes and accepts its responsibility to help preserve and protect quality of life for current and future generations. For this reason, The Amend Group has made a firm commitment to remaining a valued member of the community by actively supporting such worthy organizations and causes as…

North Texas Food Bank

The North Texas Food Bank selected The Amend Group to assist in the renovation of their 82,000 square foot facility at 4306 Shilling Way in Dallas, Texas. The North Texas Food Bank is a charitable organization whose mission is to eliminate hunger by distributing food and grocery products through a network of over 400 non-profit organizations covering 13 North Texas counties, while providing education and increasing community awareness on issues of hunger. Since its founding in 1982, the food bank has moved 233 million pounds of food through the existing facility, and in 2003 27 million pounds were distributed to the agencies that provide food for 64,000 families monthly. To increase capacity to 40 million pounds annually without moving to a larger facility, a total remodel will be required with increased freezer and refrigeration storage, more efficient dry storage racking, and increased office space with receiving and shipping on opposite sides of the building. The project will require multiple phases to allow distribution to continue to the needy families in the North Texas area.

The Amend Group will provide the following services on a pro bono basis:
  1. Programming of the various spaces within the facility in order to develop a design that will meet the projected requirements for the next 15-20 years.
  2. Developing and managing the overall project schedule, budget, and scope.
  3. Interior design and exterior revisions of the facility as defined by the programming efforts.
  4. Construction documents to allow estimating, bidding, permitting, and construction of the improvements.
  5. Coordination with equipment manufacturers as necessary to integrate necessary equipment into the overall design.
  6. Project management of the overall design and construction project, including phasing the work to allow minimal impact on day-to-day operations.

Dallas once again battled Milwaukee WIBC Headquarters and their community in a two-game roll-off to see who could knock down the most pins and raise the most money. All proceeds from the event benefited the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

“We were thrilled to help kick-off February as ‘Bowl for the Cure’ month,” noted John Amend, President of The Amend Group. “Breast cancer has forever impacted the lives of my family and friends, as well as the lives of many of our employees and their families. Bryan’s Little Socks of Love

Bryan’s Little Socks of Love is an annual fundraiser benefiting Bryan’s House, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping HIV-infected children in the Dallas area receive medical care, adolescent programming and related support services. It is named after Bryan Allen, an infected infant who passed away in 1985 after his mother contracted the AIDS virus through a blood transfusion. In memory of her son, Bryan’s mother began raising donations by asking donors to fill pairs of little red socks that he had worn throughout his final holiday season. Her efforts eventually led to the foundation of Bryan’s House in 1988.

The Amend Group is proud to support this annual holiday fundraising program. Employees receive a small red sock, similar to those worn by Bryan, in which to collect donations; the company recognizes the employee who raises the most donations. For more information on Bryan’s House, or to make a donation, please contact 214/559-3946.

Habitat For Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian housing organization. Since 1976, this organization has built more than 100,000 houses in more than 80 countries—including approximately 30,000 houses across the United States—which are sold at no profit to homeowner families with no-interest mortgages. Homeowner families are chosen according to their need, ability to repay the mortgage, and willingness to work in partnership with Habitat. Homeowners and volunteers then build the houses under trained supervision. Individuals, corporations, faith groups and others provide financial support, and Habitat for Humanity's work is organized at the local level by more than 1,900 affiliates worldwide.

The Amend Group proudly supported the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity Greenleaf Village Blitz Build. The goal of this weeklong project was to build the first 25 homes of Greenleaf Village, a 310-home, mixed-income neighborhood planned for West Dallas. Now completed, it is providing residents with affordable housing and serves as a model for similar communities throughout the United States.

"We Care" Holiday Event

The Amend Group joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Geiger & Herman Miller for the “We Care” annual holiday event in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The Amend Group donated jewelry boxes to be decorated and assisted the children in making their gifts unique. The event was held in the gymnasium of the West Dallas Boys & Girls Club where local interior design and architectural firms set up booths for the children to visit and make gifts for Christmas. Other participating companies included HDR, HKS, Lauckgroup, Interpris, Halff, Corgan, Beck, Staffelbach, F&S Partners, IA, F. Brown Entos, Camargo Copeland, Gensler, Omniplan, Leo A. Daly, and HLM Design.

“We Care” works closely with sponsoring companies throughout the year to give under-privileged children in participating communities the opportunity to make and decorate gifts for family and friends that they otherwise would not be able to give. Each company donates gifts to be decorated and the supplies the children need to make it special for their loved ones. Upon entering the event, each child was given a list of the available gifts and was allowed to pick which gifts they wanted to decorate. The Amend Group provided wooden jewelry boxes, paint, decorations, peppermints, and gift-wrap for the children. Volunteers from The Amend Group assisted area children in making their gifts. The day also included entertainment, snacks, and a visit from Santa Claus.
